Evaluation Activity 2: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

The ancillary of our music video all go together well because they used the same conventions and style.

When it came to the design of the front cover we decided to go for a simplistic design to try and keep it uncluttered and independent.  It was hard to keep it independent because we were drawn to ideas from other indie bands album cover. Our album covers shows a large band name logo in the center and the name of the album in the bottom right corner all places against a wooden fencing style background.

For our back cover we also when for the simplistic design by using the same wooden fence style background. We also used a font on the song names to give the impression that the song names have just been drawn on the wall .

overall i think that the album cover truly reflects the genre of the music video. The simplicity of our ancillary products reflect the simplicity of the music video.

EVALUATION ACTIVITY 4.

How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, panning and evaluation stages?

We used you tube as a research tool when it came to researching our genre and when we wanted to choose an appropriate song. You tube is free and we used it whenever we encountered a problem on the macs. we also used YouTube to publish our finished product.

We used blogger.com to publish any evaluations and research that we gathered. We also created a group blog to show progression in the production of our music video.

We used Itunes as a way of importing our music from CD format to mp3 format so that it is compatible with the Final Cut software we used to produce out music video.

We used Surveymonkey.com as a form of research by producing a survey on what types of genre of music people our age prefer. We then posted our survey onto our group blog.
We also used timeglider.com as a research method by producing a history of music video timeline which we also published on our group blog.

We used photoshop software to produce our album cover and our magazine advert. the found the software quite hard to used at first but after using it for a week we managed to get the hang of it.

Evaluation activity 3 - Group: What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

We decided to film our responce to this task. Overall we found that the comments people made were useful to us. Most people mentioned that our font size was a little small on the magazine advert so we took their advice and changed that. Most of the other feedback was postive though :) enjoy the video:)

This was one of the parts of our video that was originally in black and white but after the class feedback we changed to to speia and we feel this works much better with the genre of our song.
